One of the most difficult parts of designing wedding flowers for me is finding the perfect shades of blooms without a flower market nearby to see the flowers in person. I’ve always been envious of designers living near large flower markets where they can browse hundreds of varieties before choosing which bunches to purchase. Without a market close by, we must order our flowers from a wholesaler and wait until they arrive in our studios to see if the blooms are consistent with the bride’s vision. Ordering the correct variety becomes paramount. Finding the correct variety to order can be a challenge.

The following websites proved helpful in narrowing down our search for the perfect shade of pink:
Each of these websites has a gallery of gerberas organized by color with a description and photo of each variety. Sheryl, my awesome saleswoman at Green Leaf – Austin, made sure I received the ‘Malibu’ gerberas I requested. Finding a salesperson like Sheryl…now that’s a post for another day. Let’s just say, it’s crucial to your sanity!
